Emerging from Barber & Osgerby’s ongoing structural experimentation with folded material, the Shell Table references Marcel Breuer’s Isokon Dining Table from 1936. Both designs exhibit the same ability to self-level on an uneven floor owing to a unique top, which, although exceptionally strong, has the capacity to flex. Simply constructed from a moulded, laminated top and leg, the Shell Table is lightweight and has no mechanical fixings. The Shell Table was nominated for the Compasso d’Oro in 2004.
